WHile we are waiting for the howto, here are a couple of scripts I use to create user directories automatically.

#!/bin/bash

# This script queries the ldap server for user directory information and creates the user directories based on what it

Apart from computers, keeping my fish is a mostly relaxing pastime I enjoy very much. If you have never taken the time to sit down in front of a large tank and watch fish move about, you should add it to your list.

I say mostly, because over the last 6 months the Fluval fx5 filter I use has been blowing micro bubbles into the water causing algae buildup and generally making my tank look second rate.

If you have not seen it, DSPAM is a spam tool that works on the principle of word pair matching to identify spam. I like this idea as I have used SPAMPROBE with excellent results over the past 12 months.

DSPAM puts a nice webbased GUI around the spam tool and allows the users to have more control over spam they recieve.

Thanks to Symantec for another great troubleshooting opportunity.

When this issue occurs, there seems to be 2 results.

	* computer wont boot at all and gives the following error

c:\windows\system32\drivers\nav\1007020.00b\symefa.sys

DokuWiki supports some simple markup language, which tries to make the datafiles to be as readable as possible. This page contains all possible syntax you may use when editing the pages. Simply have a look at the source of this page by pressing the Edit this page button at the top or bottom of the page. If you want to try something, just use the playground page. The simpler markup is easily accessible via quickbuttons, too.

At home we use this program to continuously play our mp3 collection. We have a server PC that runs all the time doing various tasks and Tunez is loaded onto that. One of the first things you might notice is the program hasnt been updated since 2004. While I cant guarantee the security of the code, I can tell you that it works as expected and does not crash randomly or exhibit any bugs that I have found.

This issue existed in windows 9x/me fairly regularly but since the implementation of the self-repairing tcp/ip stack in win XP, it has become almost a non existant problem. HOWEVER, when it does happen, it is a real pain in the back side and the win 9x recovery methods do not work (or are less likely to work).

Microsoft WSUS server

This server allows you to emulate the windows update site (without the web front end) by downloading all the patches to your windows 2003 server, effectivly acting as a proxy server.

At some point, you probably will need to move the wsuscontent directory from its default location. This directory is determined by the “Content” settings under the default web site in the IIS administration tool.

How to force an XP client to look for updates at windows update?

Answer
Open a cmd prompt and type -
wuauclt /detectnow

This will kick off an update request. If you are using WSUS, Dont forget to make sure your updates have been approved on the server.

Antz extreme racing - Fun for a while

Backyard Wrestling - not very controlable

Blinx the time sweeper - ok, interesting, did get to go to far into it at the time

Bubble Trouble - always a fun game
